Recognising the
importance of Biotechnology for scientific and technological development in our
national economy, the Goverment of India initiated the first step for promoting
research in modern biology and biotechnology in the country by constituting the
National Biotechnology Board in 1982.

The Department of Food

energy, and public administration, in addition to its efforts for Indian
industry.

Current research interests in the area of reproductive biology are the
cloning and expression of glycoprotein hormones and their receptors; structure
function relationship of glycoprotein hormones and their receptors; molecular
biology of spermatogenesis; and cellular and molecular regulation of gamete
maturation, pre implantation embryo development and implantation in rodents and
primates.

The Biotechnology Information System (BTIS) has been established by the
Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, to serve as a
distributed database and network organisation.

provide a forum for Agricultural Scientists to interact on important and
emerging issues of agricultural research, education and extension and providing
views of the scientific community as policy inputs to planners, decision/opinion
