MANUFACTURING UNITS ...through quality

Our highly efficient manufacturing plants geared towards bringing out quality products for our customers.

We have:
• one unit in Silvassa, manufacturing herbicides; and
• one unit each in Bellary and Eluru

SILVASSA PLANT
Operational since 1996, the Silvassa plant is our star site. Built across six acres, the plant manufactures formulations and packing of Roundup, Machete, Fastmix, Lasso and Leader. The plant employs 24 permanent staff and 48 contract workers. The site is accredited with ISO 9001: 2000, ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 1999.

BELLARY PLANT
The Bellary plant, spread over 40 acres, was set up in 1996 and has a corn drier unit, three units of hybrid seed conditioning, a parent seed conditioning unit; and Quality Assurance and Isozyme testing labs.

It is a matter of great pride for us that the Bellary Seed Testing Laboratory has been awarded a certificate of accreditation by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA). This certification is an important step towards our commitment in providing our customers with the best quality seeds. The accreditation has been given with effect from February 2006 and is valid for a period of three years. The scope of accreditation will be

valid for sampling, physical purity, germination and moisture, enabling it to achieve higher standards in purity. The Bellary Seed Testing Laboratory will also be authorised to issue ISTA Internat ional Seed Analysis Certificates to seeds that are exported.

Our Bellary site has been rated 5th amongst all the industries in South India for the CII- ESH Leadership and Excellence award. We were awarded, after short listing 25 companies from an original application of more than 150 industries from South India.

ELURU PLANT
Our Eluru plant, spread over 22.5 acres of land, concentrates on corn drying. Our dedicated and committed team was involved in implementing the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) at the site, which led to the Eluru site being recommended for ISO 14001: 2004 certification. While this certification is definitely a 'Jewel in the Crown', our commitment is to sustain this further and keep improving on it continuously.

With this latest certification, the Bellary and Eluru plants have now embraced all the three systems: QMS (Quality Management Systems), OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Systems) and EMS.

To furter strengthen our commitment towards farmers, we have made investments to increase our drying capacity. We are in the process of setting up a corn drying plant in Hyderabad incorporating the latest drying technology, with an inves tment of approx imatel y Rs. 48 crores.

All our plants are ideally located in terms of climatic conditions and closeness to production facilities. This further adds to our strength.

This year we focused on effective contract labour management. We have taken positive steps to ensure that our farmers do not employ child labour. We are also ensuring that the contract workers are well educated about the safe practices and adequately supplied with all the safety equipments. Our constant interaction with farmers ensures their faith in us.

We strongly believe that children are the future of the country. We have undertaken various social activities, such as school infrastructure development and building playgrounds, to enable all round development of the children in our areas of operation.

VIDHYARTHI

The Vidhyarthi Program supports education for poor children in our production village schools. Earlier, we used to distribute note books and bags across Bellary, Haveri and Eluru locations. This year, after getting feedback from the village panchayat, farmers and village elders, we decided to provide student desks, tables and chairs, to compensate for the lack of infrastructure in the village schools.
