What role do you think corporates can play in educating public about the need and benefits of biotechnology ?
Biotechnology has come a long way in these few years. Corporates have made a great effort in educating and spreading awareness about the need for biotechnology. Private sector has a huge share in creating awareness about biotechnology. Monsanto India is working in this area by providing funds and educating the farmers. It has also worked on the "Humsafar" project for the benefit of farmers. Companies like the Tatas, HLL, ITC, Mahindras, Nagarjuna group along with the financial institutions are the new entrants in the contract farming system who also have taken initiatives in educating farmers.
